Book Review: A Wrinkle in Time

A Wrinkle in Time

Book Title: A Wrinkle in Time

Author: Madeleine L’Engle

Published: January 1, 1962

Genres: Sci-fi, Fantasy, Young Adult

I was able to read this book as part of my plan to read sci-fi books this month of January 2015. I read an e-book copy of this and I did not expect that much but it was good. If you are one of those readers who are wary of reading God in this book then I strongly suggest you avoid it or just simply ignore it because this book mentions God in most chapters.

I love Charles Wallace! I am reminded of Linus Van Pelt from Peanuts. He is such an adoring child who is gifted with wisdom. Although Charles and Meg were constantly bullied because of their supposed lack of intelligence. Charles intentionally wants other people to think that he is a moron but in reality he knows a lot of things. Meg surprisingly is also gifted in Math.

Overall, I enjoyed reading the book. Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which are wonderful guardians to Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace during their journey of saving Mr. Murry. The space travel to Uriel, Camazotz, and Ixchel were filled with adventures ultimately leading to a safe transition back to Earth with Mr. Murry now present.

Overall Verdict: 4/5
